The First United Presbyterian Church was organized on November 30th, 1873. Twenty-six members participated in the fist organizational service. Elders were ordained, the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper was observed, and several infants were baptized.

 

The first services were held in the old Baptist Church near 6th and B Streets. In 1875 a decision was made to build a church. on November 24, 1878, the "new house of worship" was dedicated at 6th and H Street with sixty-two members.

 

On July 18, 1999 the current building, 2310 H Street held its first service. The First United Presbyterian Church of Fairbury was a hundred thirty two year history of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ for the salvation of humankind in the community and the world.
